Inaugural ChapLip Library Series publishing competition winner, Benjamin Matthew Sanchez’s book of poetry. Sanchez is a half-blind, self-taught artist. A poet and published writer, he is inspired by several individuals connected on the Instagram poetry community who continue to support him throughout his journey He writes and sketches art at the edges of blank space. Featured on a variety of poetry accounts, his work is shared and read on virtual open mics across the world. This short collection of poetry was developed under city pop and future funk music influences between midnight frequencies of bass driven speakers. Through a canvas of spilled ink on soft hue evenings across California, Warm Tempo creates an urge to reminisce on retro technologies. Analog and digital sensations interweave connections with characters appearing in fantasy experiences. Individuals find escape within vivid imagery of past memories, pleasant melodies, and nostalgia-driven fictional atmospheres.
