J. Miloslavich (verified owner) –
I just finished Booklegger. It was an enjoyable trip through old Stockton haunts and the people who filled them from about about 1960 to 1990. It was so fascinating to follow Maxwell from a low- or no-paid book rat teenager to a older curmudgeonly bookseller, a story so unique no one else could come close to telling it. There were probably only 100 families who ran Stockton, and his memories are a peek into that world. Booklegger was a delight and a must for those interested in the history of Stockton and books as told through the Harvard Book Store and Maxwell’s BookMark.
