8 Week Creative Writing Workshop w/ Published Author Matt Abraham

Let’s get writing in 2026! Join published local fiction novelist Matt Abraham for an 8-week creative writing bootcamp. This series will function as a traditional class, with structured lessons, learning objectives, and take-home assignments. Classes will be every Thursday from January 8th to February 26th from 5:30-7 pm; available both in-person and on Zoom, with recorded lessons made accessible for students to refer back to.

In this practicum course, students can expect to learn about all of the basics of novel creation, focusing on topics from sentence structure to scene construction. Students can expect to master the basics of fiction that form the building blocks of both short stories and full-length novels. Students will also create their own works of fiction and participate in constructive collaboration with peers. Starting with smaller projects, each student will expand their written works as their individual knowledge grows. And finally, this course will cover marketing a novel in both the retail and electronic spaces, along with blurb, cover, and pitch creations.

This course is intended for novices who have an interest in becoming writers or learning the craft of fiction and will prepare them for future classes in the field. No formal grades or certifications.
