Judith Buethe loves to read and write. Since attending one-room country schoolhouses in southeast Iowa for eight years and learning to diagram sentences in third grade, she has also enjoyed editing. (Her mother explained, “It’s like a game, Judy!”) Also, visiting the one-room traveling library in Blakesburg, Iowa, on Saturday nights was a very special treat.
After earning an Advanced Secretarial Certificate in Des Moines, Iowa, and moving to California in 1962, Buethe earned her Associate of Arts, Fullerton Junior College; B.S., University of California, Davis; and M.P.A., University of San Francisco.
Stockton has been home since 1971. Buethe’s community service includes serving as President of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce; working on special projects with the Women’s Center of San Joaquin County, the Children’s Home of Stockton, and other groups; and serving on the board of the Micke Grove Zoological Society. Community awards include Susan B. Anthony Businessperson of the year, Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce ATHENA and Small Business Person of the year, and the 2015 Woman of the Year, 5th California Senatorial District for Outstanding Community Service.
Judith Buethe Communications, a public relations firm serving the northern San Joaquin Valley and foothill counties, was established nearly 30 years ago.
Buethe, the writer, and her husband Rex, the illustrator, are planning an inspirational book about trolls and the value of formal education.
