Jennifer Torres coordinates a countywide early literacy initiative on behalf of University of the Pacific. Before joining the University, she was a reporter for eight years at The Record newspaper, where her work on education and immigration earned state and national recognition. She continues to research and write feature stories on topics including culture, health, and children and families for local, regional and national magazines and newspapers. In 2011, Torres won the Lee & Low New Voices Award for children’s writing, and her first children’s book, Finding the Music/En Busca de la Música is set to be released by Lee & Low in spring 2015. A Southern California native, Jennifer – along with husband, David Siders – is raising two daughters, Alice and Soledad in Stockton.
