What is a Zine?

Zines(pronounced zeen) are DIY, experimental, cultural fragments of media. They come in all shapes and sizes and can be about anything or everything.

Some sample topics are: music scenes, illustrations and other visual art, flash fiction, politics, LGBTQ issues, and social and environmental justice. All you need is a little passion and imagination, if you provide the ideas we’ll provide the materials!

At The Write Place instructors will teach you the history of zines, work with you on your creative writing, and show you how to utilize our book arts tools to make a truly unique zine.

Learn: Paper making, collage, hydraulic press, typewriting, letterpress, and all types of book binding.

Each participant will be able to make up to 20 zines to keep trade or share at our Zine Fest. Be on the look out for more details around September/October.

Limited to 35 people over the age of 18, please RSVP below through our eventbrite. This is a FREE event.
